Back-end Software Engineer
FULL-TIME | UK & ARCTIC | ENGINEERING
THE VISION
Our mission is to build technology to open Earth’s final frontier. A vast expanse 1.5 times the size of the US, the Arctic is seeing geopolitical, climatic, and economic activity skyrocket. We provide clarity to this complexity — while ensuring minimal impact in the planet’s most fragile wilderness.
Built off the back of a team with 30+ years of polar experience, we recognise that autonomy is fundamental to operational success. Working at the fringes of technological capabilities, this is a company that aims high and takes bets. If you want to deploy ground-up technology with real-world impact - at an inflection point in history that won’t reappear - we want you at ARD.
THE ROLE
As a back-end Software Engineer at Arctic Research and Development, you will be pivotal for the design and implementation of all aspects of in-house software development. Collaborating in parallel with our CTO, systems and RF engineers, you’ll help architect our in-house operating system, ensuring a fluency with datasets, GIS, and field-deployed hardware.
Deployment strategists will keep you up-to-date with client capability gaps, and the role will demand strategic oversight to work at the intersection between technical and commercial delivery, while maintaining a tight control over day-to-day project work. Your robust, secure, and scalable software will be the backbone of our operations and, much like the Arctic’s dynamic pace, this is software that ships to the field fast.
